Hubby + me=host couple for 3rd Thursdays @TheStreet

On Thursday, Ben and I were asked to host a super fun boutique and beauty block party at The Street in Chestnut Hill. The day started out with rain coming down in cords, which didn’t stop me and my friend Abby from getting our hair blown out the Brookline way at Be Styled.

The salon was super cute and had these awesome blue painted pumpkins and lovely blue chocolates.

We were of course late because traffic can be a bear. I think the salon was kinda peeved, but no one can predict route 9 traffic, especially a city girl like myself and cute marketing gal Alexa from Boston Magazine who provided my chariot for the day. I liked how they had an iPad menu with pictures of the different ways you could get your hair styled.

IMG_0034Sadly, my stylist said she didn’t have enough time to do “be swanky”, so I ended up with my second choice: an off-the-menu “be swirly” beach waves hair do based on my stylists own wavy hair.

Because we were super rushed, I didn’t even have time to take my pic at the salon after, but here’s my before pics:

I sped over to Vince and began selecting from the pre-pulled clothing what I was going to wear to host the party. It was very tough. I loved this printed shirt:

IMG_0035But wasn’t sure if it looked too much like a hospital johnny.

I actually wanted to wear the white shirt hanging in the background, but it was so sheer and I forgot to bring a bra! If we were in Miami maybe it could have gone over ok, but I wasn’t sure if Boston was ready for a wardrobe malfunction…

So we ended up with these looks:

IMG_0038 Ben put on a cute gingham shirt and navy pants. He paired it with his Concepts limited edition trainers. My top was a wine colored silk shirt with sleeves that could be rolled up and the cuff buttoned up or down. It reminded me of a sexy baseball jersey. But i’m sure no Red Sox player would really wear anything like this, but maybe they should?! Craig and Kelly Breslow approved, so maybe I was on to something…

I don’t think I would have thought of these “I dream of Jeanie” type of pants on my own, but store manager Irina convinced me to try them. And I’m so happy she DID! Because not only were they super comfortable (think elastic waist–perfect for Thanksgiving gluttony fest), they were super cute, with flats OR pumps. (I know this because we ate at Shake Shack after the event, and I realized I forgot something at Vince. I changed into my jelly flats and ran over to the store in the rain. And after I got back, Ben let me know that the table of 4 teenage boys next to us was checking me and Abby out.)

Our pals Red Sox pitcher Craig Breslow and his wife Kelly swung by to do a little retail therapy, and got a copy of Seven Wonders for their christmas stockings courtesy of Boston Magazine.

Jenny Johnson decided to join the crew too and looked awesome in the Jeanie pants too.

Me and the gals discovered there’s plenty of comfy seating for husbands or boyfriends who come along for the shopping trip.

And plenty of cute fall and winter coats inside these shopping bags

These vendors on The Street also participated in the fun night!

Jonathan Adler, Skoah, DAVIDsTEA, Bluemercury, Ku De Ta, Vince, Helmut Lang, Splendid, Portobello Road, Polarn O. Pyret, Carousel Kids. They all had AMAZING discount deals such as 20-25% off plus fun gifts for that night. I was so sad that I didn’t get to shop at two of my other favorite stores, Helmut Lang, and Carousel Kids, because I no doubt would have scored some other amazing outfits. I will certainly come back to a 3rd Thursday shopping event so I can partake.

EEKS! Later on that night, already back in Boston, I discovered I had left my most favorite Lanvin nude pumps at Shake Shack. Who does that?! I was so distracted because my little girl had tonsil surgery scheduled on Friday, that I did such a thing. I think that’s a first for me. Have you ever left your shoes at a restaurant…? Manager Zack was sweet enough to locate them and hold on to them for me!

here’s my instagram pic of my cool outfit (notice my black louboutin pumps, since I had left the original shoes at Shake Shack):

IMG_0066note to self: if you change your shoes in a restaurant, don’t leave the first pair behind.
